Halloween Part 1

Today we had our first round of halloween parties for our Tues/Thurs classes. We played games with the kids and told them some ghost stories. Most of the students have been going to our school for a couple of years so they know what Halloween is... Here are some pictures:After that we made some Tteokgu. It is ricecake soup. We flavored the broth with dried anchovies and kelp then add the ricecake and veggies. It is very delicious.
Tomorrow we will have more Halloween parties, then I will go to Taekwondo, then one of the co-workers is have a Halloween Party and following that I will go to an area of Seoul that has many foreigners and big Halloween Parties. Sorry in advance for not getting a post up tomorrow, I feel that I will be too busy...

I like how some of them are just wearing their normal clothes with a hat or cape

Well, you know how much I dislike Halloween. Your dad cut a jack-o-latern using a jigsaw. Boy if I knew that you could power tools to make those things I wouldn't have messed around with butcher knives!

Agreed, Erica. I also like how in America, we have brightly colored, unnaturally flavored, delicious candy for Halloween, while in Korea, you have..... ricecake soup.

What did you dress up as?

Erica, yeah, most of them don't go all out. You have to remember that they only get to celebrate Halloween in our school, they have to go to public school in the morning and probably have a different school to go to after ours neither of which will celebrate Halloween.
Mom, it actually is delicious, like chicken noodle soup without the chicken or the noodles...and I can't believe dad and the jigsaw. On second though, yes I can...did you take any pics?
Maggie, the soup was my dinner ;) We did hand out candy also, but let me tell you the kids would prefer gimbap (like sushi) and tteokbokki over candy any day!I was an angel for Halloween, another teacher already had the wings I just made a halo... I had to be able to do a lot of the activities with the kids in my "costume".
