The Single Traveler

This is a picture of the subway entry in Gangnam at night. I just thought as far as subways go this has to be the prettiest one I have ever seen...

So today I did a little traveling on my own. Scary, because I don't know the language but exciting because I can do whatever I want...So I will start out by telling you that once again I didn't come home until this morning...We went to a place for breakfast called Butterfinger Pancakes. It serves American breakfast food, delicious. I had the best pancakes in the world, mozarella and cream cheese pancakes with honey vanilla butter and maple syrup. I know it sounds weird but literally the best thing I have ever had! Jason, when/if you come visit me (you should btw) I will take you and you have to have this, literally couldn't think of anyone else who would appreciate it this much!

Then I went home and took a quick nap. Once I got up I decided to take the advice of an English teacher from another school and go to Gangnam. Little did I know that I have acctually already been here, but we came at night and went to a bar and a club. Today when I first got there I walked around for a bit, just took in the scenery which is like a city (big suprise) but when signs are in Korean it is so amazing. I saw a sign that said "DVD" and then some Korean I couldn't read. I thought oh, a DVD store, boy was I in for a suprise (and wrong). First thing the owner asked was if I was by myself, I was thinking, odd question, but answered that yes indeed I was alone. So I found a movie on a shelf that I had been wanting to see for a while and thought if it's not that expensive I will buy it. It is The Pursuit of Happiness. I asked the man, "How much?" and he replied, "Today is Saturday, $6, on weekdays $5" and I was like whatever that is weird but I'll buy it. Well you aren't acctually buying the DVD, this is where speaking/reading Korean would have come in handy. After a couple minutes he shows me to this room in another part of the shop and I'm like what's going on, well you get to sit and watch the movie on this really good sized screen with surround sound, all by yourself, if you come alone...My guess is that you are supposed to bring a date and you get this little room to makeout in the whole time during the movie. But for me it was nice, I was chillin' in this room and watching a movie I wanted to see and didn't have to deal with people talking and all that. Also the guy was really great, he kept bringing me drinks and stuff. It wasn't what I expected but overall awesome anyway!

Then after my movie I walked around some more. I ran into this open building type thing. I found out it is the "Life Is Great" or LIG Art Hall. I got there kinda late so I didn't try to get in for fear of not having much time. But I have to pictures of the entrance. It was just so cool. I will eventually go back and see the inside. I couldn't read the schedule of events (in Korean) but it looked like they also held performance art there, so I might do some research and go back on a strategically good day... Anyway the pictures:

Sounds interesting, but I'm not crazy about you traveling alone! At least until you learn more Korean. The movie parlor could have turned out completely different! So tell us about the party!

Bad girl, thanks?
Mom, everyone else was really busy...Korea is a really safe country and I am very careful everywhere I go. The party was uneventful, that's why I didn't post about it. Only like 3 people dressed up...
